Postcard from Summer Solstice, Ottawa

Last Friday we went to Vincent Massey Park to see Summer Solstice Festival 2014 in Ottawa. We got impressed by the arts and grafts that the vendors were selling.

It was really nice to see so many unique paintings, jewelry, clothes etc. I got a pretty piece of bear paw earring and we also tested the buffalo burger.

We¬† heard a really sad real life stories of the horrific cases of kidnapping and violence towards aboriginal women in Canada. An important issue that can’t be dismissed.

The Pow-Wow showcased the drums and impressive costumes of the First Nations. We were really impressed by the way the hosts were inviting the audience to dance along contestants – a good way to show a will to be united..
